Construction of THE BOG commenced on October 4, 1993. Thanks to very favorable weather conditions, most elements of golf course construction were completed by the end of October, 1994. Construction of THE BOG's primary structures began in December of 1994. The maintenance facility began in early December and ground was broken on the club house on December 15. The maintenance facility was completed in February of 1995.
JTGI's original objective was to open THE BOG for play in Mid-July of 1995. Despite a wetter- and colder-than-normal Spring, this objective was met. THE BOG opened for Member play on June 15, 1995.
Originally, THE BOG was intended to be a public, daily fee golf course. In late 1993, the Milwaukee Athletic Club (MAC) and JTGI began discussions on a potential affiliation which would enable MAC members to acquire exclusive access to THE BOG. In May of 1994, these discussions resulted in a five-year affiliation agreement.
