The Bog Team reviewing the layouts and progress

These principles, established by classic golf course architects such as Dr. Alister MacKenzie, Harry Colt, Hugh Allison, and Donald Ross, embrace the existing contours and natural features of the site. Palmer Course Design created numerous golf course layouts in early 1993. The primary challenge was the 97 acres of wetlands dispersed throughout THE BOG's site. The most desirable initial layout masterfully wove golf holes around and over these scenic wetlands. Unfortunately, this layout did not leave room for the extensive practice facility which Mr. Wakefield insisted on. The only solution was to acquire more property.

Two weeks prior to the scheduled purchase of the 272-acre site, Mr. Wakefield asked one of the original landowners to sell an additional 25 acres. After intense negotiations, the owner agreed. Acquisition of this 25-acre parcel preserved THE BOG's current layout and extensive practice facilities. THE BOG's design was completed in May of 1993. The final permit was issued in September of 1993 after extensive public hearings held by the Town of Saukville, Ozaukee County and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. > Read More
